The 5 Best New/Digital Media Videos of Students from 13D1

...Gurpreet...

I felt that this video truly encompasses the student's knowledge and understanding of how the Internet has evolved. As a result of the way it has been presented, this video is able to provide audiences with a range of information which could possibly relate to how they may view the Internet.

...Sebastian...

This video clearly shows that the student who had produced it knew a lot about the overall aspects of the Internet, as a result of answering all 3 questions and also giving their own opinions of what they think about the Internet. They have also showed that they knew how to make use of the technology as a result of inputting other clips from other videos within their production.

...Anika...

This video was very informative in telling viewers about the good and bad aspects of the Internet, and about how it changes audiences. When looking at the overall aspects of the video, I would say that it is most likely to catch people's attention due to the use of images, text, and soundtrack.

...Jawaria & Aqeel...

Although the timing for this video is quite short, it shows that the students who created it knew some of the information of which was needed in order to create the video. With the overall use of the upbeat soundtrack and images, I would say that this video would be able to gain a wide audience as it also informs them of the good and bad aspects of the Internet.

...Sajel...

I believe this production shows that this video production shows a large amount of understanding about the Internet, due to the way in which they were talking about the different types of sites which people may often use and the amount of time an average person spends on the Internet.

Self Evaluation on New/Digital Media Video Production

For mine and Amal's video, a lot of the feedback that we received from the other students in our class was good, however some said that we could have made a few changes if we were to make it again.

Aesthetics = This was mainly about how beautiful and well-formed our video was, for this area, we mainly received level 4's as well as a few level 3's. As a result of how we were marked in this area, this told us that the appearance of our video (possibly because of the images and text) was fully realised as well as successful, as a result also showing us that the information of which we had included within our video was relevant to the topic at hand.

Creativity = This was about how inventive our video was in communicating our ideas. For this area we mainly received a few level 4's and a few level 3's. Overall this told us that our video included an adequate amount of information for the purpose of the video and that it had flair which was possibly due to the quality of it.

Technology = For this area we mainly received level 4's as well as a few level 3's. As a result of receiving these levels for this specific area, it told us that we had enough skill and knowledge to create something which would be of a high standard, this can also relate to the overall aspects of our video production .i.e. the images, text, and soundtrack therefore telling us that we knew how to create something which would be able to appeal to a wide audience with the technology of which we used.

Understanding = Our understanding within our video production would show how much we knew in order to answer the key questions. As a result of receiving a high number of level 4's for this area, it told us that we knew a lot of information from what we had learnt within the previous week in order to create this video and answer all the questions that needed to be answered about the Internet.

Production values = This was about how polished and professional our production was. As a result of receiving a high number of level 3's and 4's, I would have to say that I am proud of the video production myself and Amal have made. The reason as to why is a result of what we were told regarding this area, many of the other students within our class had told us that our video production was very competent and that it represented our understanding of the topic.

* We clearly showed the positives and negatives of using the Internet.

* We showed our understanding of the topic by answering all 3 questions and using a relevant amount of information.

* Due to the overall aspects .i.e. the soundtrack, images and text our video production was very creative and engaging.

...EBI...

* We could have used more images.

* We could have used a better soundtrack.

* We could have talked more about the negative aspects of the Internet.

What is the difference between an Internet user and a television viewer?

An Internet user is someone who is able to fall into an active audience due to them now being able to produce their own content rather than just watching and hearing that of others, this can lead to them producing user generated content in which they will be able to gain more knowledge and information based on what they see and hear on the Internet and also learn about other people's ideas and opinions. However, this is where the saying "don't believe everything you see online" comes into context as people may end up believing something which has been fabricated in order to gain the audience's attention.

This differs from the definition of a television viewer. A television viewer is someone who is able to know that the information of which they see and hear on TV is believable content, therefore leading to them falling into the passive audience as a result of them taking each bit of information in its stride and believing it for what it is. Due to television viewers not being able to be the producers of the media in this essence it is more likely that they will go along with what they see and hear as they know that the information is coming from professionals who aim to inform their audiences of the truth.

Are people more active online?

I believe that people are more active online, as a result of them now being able to produce their own content rather than just consuming the content. Websites such as YouTube, and Facebook enable people to interact with one another further than they would be able to if they were just watching the TV. As well as this, we are also able to decide what we want to watch, and listen to rather than being forced to watch and listen to one specific thing on the TV. As a whole I believe that people are more active online as a result of them being able to feel as though they play a part in the production of the Internet due to them being able to share their own ideas and opinions.

New/Digital Media - The Internet

The Internet has become a world wide medium ever since it was created back in 1957, however over the years it has been able to evolve and now it puts into context the question of whether the Internet is killing our culture.

With the Internet showcasing both good aspects and bad aspects, will it change audiences, and will it damage the print platform now that we have a new type of technology which is able to give us as much more information than books and newspapers are?
